So, as much as I would love to make this into a full fledged story, I have about a hundred too many projects going on and about zero freetime to even work on those projects. So I decided I would make a little thread here so people can know what kind of prologue I am playing on in my Veronaville. Not that it really matters, but I think it's a creative timeline to use.
So, Oberon and Titania were the King and Queen of the fairies in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Working off how fairies work in The Sims 3: Supernatural (Note: it is not always smart to work off anything from The Sims 3; or 4 for that matter), they age much, much slower than normal Sims. I'm assuming sometime when Oberon was a teenager, it was the time that Consort, Contessa, and Patrizio were teenagers. I think that the wealthy Octavius Capp contacted Oberon; because, while Scribonia Capp was technically the Head of the Capp House, Octavius was a very overbearing guy who forced his wife to do his deeds. Octavius was afraid of the dissolution of the powerful House Capp because, at the time, the House Monty was more powerful and Patrizio, Contessa's lover at the time, would talk Contessa into taking on the Monty name. With little power to do anything on his own, and Scribonia's insistence on Contessa's right to choose, Octavius was left with no other choice than to go to the fairies for help.
Octavius offered Oberon and his romantic interest, Titania a mansion on Capp lands as long as Oberon came up with a plan that caused Contessa to choose the heir from the House Thebe because Octavius knew that House Thebe would happily dissolve into House Capp. This was an simple task for Oberon... or, at least he thought so at the time. The Thebe heir, Consort, and the Monty heir, Patrizio worked together. Oberon simply made Patrizio think it was the right choice to take advantage of a loophole that would charge those in any house other than House Monty and House Capp more for its services. His business partner, Consort, found out about this and fired Patrizio. The whole ordeal made big time news and House Monty lost much of its prestige. Contessa decided that she did not want to marry a cheat, so she married Consort.
Oberon didn't realize this at first, but this little ordeal would alienate not only House Monty, but also House Capp. Since this all happened in the middle ages, news like this was easily distorted and made House Capp look just as guilty. I mean, they were part of the business that was bringing a lot of money into Capp lands. Things began to slowly boil until, a few years later, the surrounding houses had joined together and decided to attack and burn House Capp and House Monty lands. Oberon and Titania learned of this, and knew that there was no way to escape the ring of fire that now surrounded them. They were about to be burned alive! They quickly put together a plan. Oberon called for his parents, Zephyretta and Sprite Gossamer, and Titania called for her parents, Fae and Elvin Summerdream. These six fairies would bind together and create a spell that would teleport them and all the citizens of these two kingdoms to a different land. A little mixup occurred, sadly, due to different interpretations of where this new land would be placed and.. surprisingly, what time era. Oberon, the leader of the spell, didn't care where they were being shipped, just as long as it was in the modern era. He had heard of this era through the grapevine that a gypsy had learned of all the technological advances that were coming. Titania wanted a land that was spring for half the year, but also had Summer and fall. The Summerdreams wanted a land that was summer all year long, and the Gossamers wanted a land that experienced all the seasons.
Thanks not only to the ununison desires that were occurring during the casting of the spell, but also to the simple size and difficulty of the spell, Oberon's parents instantly died. Titania's parents were left severely weakened, and both Titania and Oberon were stripped of their power. The new land was in the modern era, however, the Monty side of the canal was of a Mediterranean style and weather, the Capp side was of an English style and weather, and the Summerdream house was that of Titania's desires.
So that brings things to the point where Consort, Contessa, Patrizio, and Isabella were in their early adulthoods... but what about the deaths? Well, the citizens of this newly formed area had no idea where they came from and didn't find the sudden change of weather on either side of the canal odd. However, their memories of eachother stayed the same. Albeit, in a more modern form. House Capp and House Monty kept their royalty systems in this new land and two kingdoms were formed. With a neutrally controlled University and a disputed downtown area. News got out that the heir apparent, Cordelia Capp and her husband, Caliban Capp were making strides into taking control of the downtown area as Capp land. Patrizio, not having any of this, sent assassins to blow up their car on a trip to the Capp mansion. It didn't take long for Contessa to put two and two together and had sanctions put against the Monty family and their business. Consort wanted to murder the House Monty heirs, but Contessa did not want any more blood to be spilled over simple land matters.
Contessa then summons the head of House Monty, Patrizio, and strikes a deal. Downtown is officially marked neutral and the peoples of both kingdoms may commerce in the lands freely. Patrizio decides to begrudgingly accept, knowing that House Capp is now in defense mode, ready to pounce at any second. A time of relative peace ensues until Contessa dies. Consort, temporary Head of House Capp, decides to have the Monty heirs killed. Spies revealed that Antonio was planning on abdicating his claim to throne for his younger (by 30 minutes) twin brother, Claudio. So he had Claudio and his wife, Olivia murdered. Consort wanted the deaths to seem like an accident, because he didn't want a war. He just wanted revenge. So the assassin put parasitic worms in their food that would quickly eat the insides of the the two and force them to essentially die of starvation. This method of assassination seemed too random to even relate to the Capps and just seemed to be something they ate that was bad. The Monty's were known to eat pretty strange foods from time to time!
Hero Monty, however, did not think this was just a simple coincidence. She knew Consort was a vengeful man, and her in-law's death immediately after Contessa's death was too much. She looked into it, and eventually found out that Consort did order to have parasitic worms put into Claudio and Olivia's food. However, she was unable to escape the warehouse that she found the evidence in in time and was shot. Consort was careful enough to erase any association with the area and House Capp. House Monty, although without any sound evidence, was now on alert and suspicious of their neighbor kingdom.
This brings the storyline to where the events of my Veronaville take place. I would like to now point out that Titania made a deal with Dionysos (The God of Chaos) to get her fairy powers back. The rules are a little different now, however, with these new powers being more liken to wizardry. Oberon was given his powers back as well, along with their three adoptive children. Oberon, now, however, is reluctant to use his powers in any situation that is not deemed necessary. The death of his parents due to his decisions is still fresh in his mind. Although, Titania went right back to her old ways.
