The Unofficial BBS is a forum for sharing gameplay of any and all Sims games within the franchise. We were founded in the March of 2011 when the official Sims 2 website was rumored to be closing down (the forum there was a bulletin board system—i.e. "BBS"). Since then, we have expanded to also include boards for The Sims 3, but you shouldn't feel limited: we do welcome discussion for any installment of the game. Recently we've been trending in the direction of becoming an event-oriented forum, hosting both gameplay and custom-content creation challenges and contests. We try our best to keep events running year-round so there's always something to participate in. New to the forum? This may be the best way to get involved!
1. Conduct yourself in a respectful manner.
Indecent and/or obnoxious behavior will not be tolerated, whether directed towards membership or staff. You have every right to speak your mind, but we expect you to be tactful about it.
2. Do not swear or post sexually-explicit content.
The age range on this forum varies, as does lifestyle. If linking to or posting a story that contains profane language or adult concepts, please forewarn readers.
3. Do not ask for the personal information of other members.
Again, the age range on this forum varies, and the best way to keep all members safe is to ask that no member request any personal information from another that the latter does not wish to volunteer.
4. Do not double-post.
Double-posting is replying to a thread in which your are already the last replier (i.e. replying to your own reply). Please use the "edit post" feature instead. The exception to this rule is if you are adding something of value to a thread that needs to be seen by other members.
5. Do not spam.
Do not post incessantly and/or irrelevantly. Please wait at least two days before bumping a thread of yours that has been overlooked. You can bump simply by replying to your thread with the word "bump" in the body of the post.
6. Do not hotlink.
Do not use the URL of an image that you yourself did not upload. You are stealing somebody else's bandwidth. Please save the image to your computer and then re-upload it to your own account on a photo-hosting website (such as Photobucket) or on a website that does not require registration (such as Imgur).
7. Keep images in signatures under 200px in height.
Massive signatures that break this rule may be removed or resized by a staff member. Text should be limited to five lines.
8. Post only freely-available custom content for download.
We do not support pay sites or pay content here, and this includes AdFly links and similar. We also ask that you do not link to downloads hosted at websites that require registration to view them. If you'd like to advertise the latter, you can do so under Links.
