For the second year in a row, the Unofficial BBS is hosting a House Design Challenge! This year, the challenge has a twist: Starter Home!
How it works: Participants will each build a five-room house with at least one kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. The function of the other two rooms is up to the builder. Each week, one room in the house will be furnished/decorated according to a prompt word, and photographs will be shared here on the forum. The exterior of the house will be kept secret until the fifth week, when the last room is shared and the entirety of the house can also be shown.
Starter Home: We're having a spin on the challenge this year! For the purposes of the "starter home" twist, your house should be under $20,000 unfurnished (meaning you should build shell of your house [with windows, floors, wall paints, etc.], take note of the price, and THEN start decorating; shrubbery/plants/landscapes COUNT toward the $20,000, so you might want to design the outside first rather than last this year). Also, no one room can exceed 5x5 grid tiles.
Winners & Prizes: The best house design will be chosen by a forum vote at the very end and be featured prominently somewhere on the forum. Interpretation of the prompt word, design, and creativity should all be considered when casting votes.

Signups:You can sign up by posting in this thread, and signups will be open for the next two weeks (until Sunday, June 7th) and all the way through the end of the first week of the challenge (the first week's photos will be due on Sunday, June 14th). Signups will continue all the way through until the end of the challenge! If you choose to join, all you have to do is post pictures for your house design for all of the previous weeks.
Rules:
• This event is open to all forum members, including staff. Participants can The Sims 2, Sims 3, or Sims 4 as their platform for creating. Since the challenge is only five weeks long this year, participants may enter up to two houses. An entry includes one house; five rooms; kitchen, bedroom, bathroom.
• All houses must be original designs. You can use real-life photos and floor plans for inspiration, but you should not use a house (or a recreation of a house, from pictures) created by another Simmer.
• Each participant will create their own thread in this board (Sims 2), this board (Sims 3), or this board (Sims 4) at the beginning of the challenge and update it each week with their new pictures. All threads will be linked to in this post.
• You may use CC in your houses.
• You may edit your pictures. However, if you choose to edit dramatically, you must also include a link to unedited versions of the photos. Please use your own best discretion for subtle vs. dramatic editing.
• Photos must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on Sunday night each week. Prompt words will be revealed Monday by 11:59 AM.
• If you know that you will be unavailable for one of the weeks, you can contact me ahead of time and I will give you the prompt word so that you can get your photos in early. Please try to get your photos in on time each week so you don't start to fall behind!
